I show images,
plump, even obese human bodies,
either naked or half naked, alone, or two or three together, never more.
These figures are neither put in a setting nor do they appear
with any object. They are put on angular terraces,
usually reduced to their merest expression. No piece has a title.
I offer myself the infinite play on shapes, and everything the curves
of figures and the way to shape them can offer.
I find treasures, variations, relationship which surprise me.
One can only see from this point of view a question about the image
of the body or a search for the link between some Paleolithic Venuses
and others, more modern, with their body shaped
by our contemporary world.
I also try, and this is the most important, to send the power of life
through my sculptures.
These men and women should be able to exist with their own freedom,
mystery, their own expression.
They act, they feel, they let themselves go,
they express themselves or say nothing, they assert themselves.
Thus they show the link they have with their own body and are (or not)
surrounded by a presence who looks at them.
Is it always an outside look? Who is it from?
By the way, do these figures stand as a model?
At first sight, maybe close to a realistic representation,
my sculptures only show the shaped expression of images
that I try to capture; I try to keep this expression as open as possible.
Even if I put signs for each piece, the ones the nakedness
of the figures allows me to show, I try different balances
within or outside oppositions or paradoxes.
I like the idea that the people who look at my sculptures
give them a part of themselves, by putting images,
thoughts, inner feelings on them, leaving thus a little of themselves.
